Field of scientific interests

  • Scientific interests are related to the broad theme of the Ukrainian-Polish borderland in the historical context (first of all, the main attention is focused on the study of national and religious relations in the Kholm region and Pidliashshia, sources of difficult memory in the national narratives of the Poles and Ukrainians, the origins of the cultural diversity of the Kholm region and Pidliashshia, their place in the history of Ukraine, Poland and Russia, the role of the Orthodox, Greek Catholic and Roman Catholic churches in the cultural, social, economic and political history of the Ukrainian-Polish borderlands);
  • Other scientific interests relate to the challenges of modern Ukraine (economic, demographic and political) as well as its modernization on the way to the EU and NATO.

Grants

  • 2007 – participation in the 17th Eastern Summer School, organized by the Studios of Eastern Europe at the University of Warsaw;
  • 2015 – participation in the international grant of the Visegrad Group ‘Think Visegrad Fellowship 2015’. During the implementation of the grant, I did a scientific internship at the Institute of Central and Eastern Europe (Lublin, Poland), consulted Polish researchers and specialists on national and regional security in Central and Eastern Europe against the background of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict as well as conducted scientific research in the archives and libraries of Lublin;
  • 2019 – participation in the 9th Summer School of the Institute of Religion and Society at the Ukrainian Catholic University ‘Social Thought of Metropolitan Andrii Sheptytskyi’;
  • 2021 – participation in the 11th Summer School of the Institute of Religion and Society at the Ukrainian Catholic University “Social Thought of Metropolitan Andrii Sheptytskyi’ (co-moderator of the event);
  • 2023 – Janusz Kurtyka Foundation project ‘Tarcza historii’. Participation in the Polish-Ukrainian forum on countering Russian disinformation in the sphere of the history of Poland and Ukraine.

Prizes and scholarships

  • 2004–2005 – participation in the scholarship programme of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland Wlodzimierz Tsimoshevich ‘Scholarship for Young Scientists.’ During September 2004, the internship took place under the guidance of the Director of Eastern Europe Studies at the University of Warsaw Jan Malicki;
  • In October 2004, completed an internship at the University of Maria Curie-Sklodowska in Lublin under the guidance of Professor habilitated Dr. Jan Lewandowski.

Public activity

Since September 2014 – a volunteer group of lecturers from BSPU ‘Our Atlases’, whose activity is related to the support of Ukrainian soldiers and volunteers in Donbass. Establishing cooperation with organizations of representatives of the Ukrainian diaspora in Canada (Quebec) and Latvian volunteers from ‘SOS palīdzība Ukrainas armijai’ group; participation in charity events, during which they raised funds for a military hospital in Bilmak (Zaporizhzhia oblast);

Since February 24, 2022 – volunteer work in Zaporizhzhia and Lviv. The initiatives included: establishing cooperation with Polish and Ukrainian volunteers, representatives of civil society in order to help the wounded soldiers-defenders from Berdiansk, a military hospital in Zaporizhzhia, fighters and volunteers of the city of Zaporizhzhia. In Lviv, participated in the activities of the volunteer NGO “SC Resistance – Ukraine” of the National Library of Ivan Franko National University and was also involved in the volunteer activities of lecturers from Andrei Krupynskyi Lviv Medical Academy.
